Team plans: workspaces, seats, and invites

View as Markdown

Under The X Subscription, the workspace holds the plan, seats, usage, and top-ups. Whether a workspace is individual or team comes from the plan, not how many people are in it. An individual plan is for one person and doesn’t support adding members. A team plan can have one person or many.

If you have not switched yet, your current Cursor team or Grok team keeps working the way it does today. For who can switch or combine a team, see Unification eligibility: Who can combine accounts?.

What is a workspace?

  • One workspace = one subscription and one bill
  • Usage meters, prepaid top-ups, seats, and invoices sit on that workspace
  • You manage them from grok.com/dashboard after you switch
  • People can belong to more than one workspace and switch between them with the workspace switcher

Team plans are priced per seat, and each member can have their own seat: Premium, Super, or Ultra.

How to invite people

On a team plan, you invite people from the Members page at grok.com/dashboard.

  1. Sign in to grok.com/dashboard and open Members.
  2. Select Invite.
  3. Enter each person's email address. Separate several with commas or new lines.
  4. Choose a Role (Member or Admin) and a Seat (Free, Premium, Super, or Ultra).
  5. Select Send invites. Each person gets an email with a link to join your team. You can also select Copy invite link to share a link instead (not available for Free seats).

When someone accepts, they take an unused seat if there is one. If every seat is taken, a new seat is bought and charged a prorated amount for the rest of the billing period.

To accept an invite you received

  1. Open the invite email and select Join Team.
  2. Sign in, or create an account if you don't have one yet. Use the email address the invite was sent to.
  3. Select Accept invite.

Removing someone from the team

To remove someone, open Members at grok.com/dashboard, select ⋯ next to their name, then Remove from team and Remove access. They lose access to the team right away. Their seat stays on your plan, and the next person who joins can use it. To stop paying for it, go to Billing & invoices at grok.com/dashboard/billing, open the plan menu, select Edit seats, then Reduce seats. Removed seats come off at the end of the billing period. You can't remove yourself.

Seats

On a team, each member can have their own seat. When an existing team unifies, you choose each person's seat during the switch. After that, change seats on Members at grok.com/dashboard.

  • Admins manage members and seats from the Members tab in the dashboard
  • Team plan seats are available on Premium, Super, and Ultra
  • Each seat has the same usage as the corresponding individual plan
  • Adding a seat mid-cycle is charged a prorated amount for the remaining days; the billing date doesn’t move

Changing someone's seat

To change someone's seat, open Members at grok.com/dashboard and pick a new seat from the Seat menu next to their name.

  • Upgrades apply right away. The team's card is charged the prorated difference for the rest of the billing period, and the renewal date stays the same.
  • Downgrades apply at the end of the billing period. Until then, pick their current seat again and select Keep [seat] to cancel the change.
  • Moving someone to Free applies right away, but the paid seat stays on your plan until you reduce seats in Billing & invoices.

X benefits on team plans

Team seats include X benefits. A member gets them once both of these are true:

  • An admin has assigned them a Premium, Super, or Ultra seat
  • They've connected their own personal X account, the same way as on an individual plan

Admins manage members and seats from Members at grok.com/dashboard.

Who can start a team switch?

On a team, a Cursor team owner or admin starts the unification. To bring in an existing Grok team, they also need to be that team's owner or billing admin. Regular members can’t start it. If you’re starting from a Cursor team, go to cursor.com/unify/team.

A team-to-team switch combines the teams into one workspace and one bill. Combining them is permanent. It can’t be undone, and Support can’t undo it for you.

If your team paid for Grok Business, it's cancelled when you switch and the unused days are refunded.

Joining a team doesn't cancel a personal plan you already pay for. Cancel it yourself if you no longer need it.
