Sign-in
Why does signing in look different?
Cursor and Grok may send you to a shared xAI sign-in page. The page may show Grok or xAI branding even when you started from Cursor.
Signing in only authenticates you. It does not link or combine accounts, switch your plan, or cancel a subscription.
Sign in, link accounts, collapse accounts, or switch plans
These actions are different:
- Sign in: Use one of the sign-in options shown in the product. This gives you access to the account you selected.
- Link accounts: Associate eligible accounts with one another. Linking alone does not combine accounts, cancel subscriptions, or switch plans.
- Collapse accounts: Combine multiple eligible Cursor accounts into one primary Cursor account. Collapse only combines accounts; it does not cancel subscriptions.
- Switch plans: Review the eligible accounts, plan, and payment details, then complete checkout. Eligible subscription cancellations happen only after checkout completes.
How to sign in
- Open Cursor or Grok as usual.
- Continue to the shared sign-in page when prompted.
- Choose one of the sign-in options shown for your account.
- Complete the prompts and return to the product you opened.
If you have more than one account, make sure you choose the account you intend to use.
Signing in to X with a phone number
If your X account uses a phone number, choose Sign in with X and complete any phone or SMS verification shown. Use the X account you intend to connect. If sign-in fails, confirm you can access that account in X, then try again.
Do I need a Grok subscription to use Cursor?
No. A shared sign-in page does not require you to buy a Grok subscription to use Cursor.
FAQ
The sign-in page looks like Grok or xAI. Is that expected?
Yes. Cursor and Grok use a shared sign-in path, so the page may use Grok or xAI branding.
Does signing out of Grok sign me out of X?
No. X keeps its own sign-in session. Cursor and Grok use shared account services, so after signing out, confirm which account you use when signing back in.
I cannot find my previous plan, team, or history.
You may be signed in to a different account. Sign out and try the sign-in method you used for the account before. Contact Support if you still cannot find it.
I use a work account with SSO.
Choose the SSO option shown in the product. If it fails, contact your workspace admin or Support.
I linked accounts, but my billing looks the same.
Linking does not switch your plan or cancel a subscription. Billing changes only after you complete an eligible checkout.
Next steps
To review an eligible switch, start from cursor.com/unify or accounts.x.ai/unify. Confirm the accounts, plan, and payment summary before completing checkout.
