Extra usage credits and top-ups

View as Markdown

With The X Subscription, each paid seat receives a shared weekly pool for eligible first-party usage only across supported Grok and Cursor surfaces. Additional Usage is paid from prepaid top-up credit.

If your account has not switched to The X Subscription, its current billing behavior continues.

What counts as Additional Usage

  • Third-party models in Cursor aren't included in your plan. They're paid from prepaid credit from the first use.
  • On teams, seats share the workspace's prepaid balance. Each paid seat still has its own weekly pool for eligible first-party usage only.

For current third-party model availability and charges, see models and pricing in the product.

Prepaid balance and spending caps

Your prepaid credit and your monthly additional usage limit are separate controls:

  • Prepaid balance: credit available to pay for Additional Usage
  • Monthly additional usage limit (spending cap): the most paid Additional Usage allowed in a calendar month. Leave it unset for no cap.

Adding prepaid credit does not raise the monthly extra-usage spending cap. Additional Usage can stop even when credit remains if the cap is reached.

Auto Top Up

Auto Top-up is optional and only runs after you enable it. Switching to The X Subscription doesn't turn it on for you. When it's on, it charges your saved payment method when your prepaid credit drops below the threshold you choose.
