# Unification eligibility: Who can combine accounts?

The X Subscription brings Grok, Cursor, and X together under one subscription. Eligible customers can unify their existing Cursor and Grok accounts and add a personal X account to get X benefits.

## Do I have to unify my subscriptions?

Your current plan, price, and features continue unless you change or cancel them. Existing Cursor customers can change their subscription tier and invite teammates without unifying or moving to the new plans, except plans billed through the Apple App Store, which need to switch first. New customers start on The X Subscription.

## The X Subscription Eligibility Quick Reference Chart

| Situation | Can you switch or unify accounts? | What to know |
| --- | --- | --- |
| You have a personal Cursor, Grok, and/or X account | Yes | You can combine eligible personal Cursor and Grok accounts under The X Subscription, then (optionally) add a personal X account for X benefits. Each X account can be combined with only one Grok account. Start at [cursor.com/unify](https://cursor.com/unify) (Cursor), [accounts.x.ai/unify](https://accounts.x.ai/unify) (Grok), or on [x.com](https://x.com) under **Subscription** (X). |
| You have a team on both Cursor and Grok | Yes | Eligible Cursor and Grok teams can be combined. A Cursor team owner or admin starts the switch. To bring in an existing Grok team, they also need to be that team's owner or billing admin. Regular members can’t start this process. Teams start at [cursor.com/unify/team](https://cursor.com/unify/team). See [Team plans: workspaces, seats, and invites](/x-subscription/team-plans). |
| You don’t have a Cursor or Grok account, or you only have a free X account | Yes | You start on The X Subscription when you sign up. |
| You purchased Cursor through the iPhone or iPad app | Yes | You can switch on the web at [cursor.com/unify](https://cursor.com/unify), but we can’t cancel or refund your Apple subscription. After you switch, cancel it in your iPhone or iPad Settings, or Apple keeps billing you. Request any refund from Apple. We’ll also email you a reminder to cancel after you switch. If it’s not in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder. |
| Your company is Enterprise on Cursor only, with no related Grok account | Yes, but not self-serve | Cursor Enterprise customers without an active Grok presence can make the switch. Reach out to your account team for details. |
| Your company is Enterprise on both products, on a negotiated contract, or on Grok Enterprise | Not yet | Contact your account team. |
| You have an Enterprise account and a personal account | No | An Enterprise account can’t be combined with a personal account. |
| One account is personal and the other is a team | No | Personal accounts and teams unify separately: personal accounts at [cursor.com/unify](https://cursor.com/unify), teams at [cursor.com/unify/team](https://cursor.com/unify/team). |
| You have an X Premium (or X Premium+) subscription | Yes | You can switch. If you pay for X Premium, it’s cancelled and refunded, then replaced by The X Subscription plan you pick. The X Subscription includes X benefits when a personal X account is connected. |
| You’re on a Cursor legacy request-based plan (individual) | Yes, after one step | Click **Opt In to New Pricing** in your Cursor dashboard, then unify. |
| Your Cursor team uses legacy request-based pricing, or you’re billed by invoice | Not self-serve | Contact Support to move to usage-based pricing. If you’re billed by invoice under a contract, contact your account team. |
| You have an unpaid invoice or a past-due payment | Not until it’s paid | Pay any open or past-due Cursor invoices, or update your payment method, then try again. |
| Checkout doesn't accept your current payment method | Not with that payment method | Choose a supported payment method, then try again. Your current plan keeps working until you do. For payment methods The X Subscription accepts, see [Which payment methods can I use?](/x-subscription/payment-methods). |
| Your X account is managed by an organization or is an affiliate account | No | Only personal X accounts can be added. X accounts managed by an organization, including affiliate accounts, can’t be added. |

## What happens when I switch or unify accounts?

* Your eligible Cursor and Grok accounts are combined under one subscription and one bill. A connected personal X account gets X benefits.
* You pick one of The X Subscription plans. If you’re on Free, you stay free until you choose a paid plan.
* The subscriptions you combine are cancelled at checkout, and you get an automatic prorated refund for unused time. This doesn’t apply to Cursor subscriptions billed through the Apple App Store: we can’t cancel or refund those, so cancel yours in your iPhone or iPad Settings and request any refund from Apple. We’ll also email you a reminder to cancel after you switch. If it’s not in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder. If you bought Grok, Grok Bot, or X Premium through the Apple App Store, we cancel it and ask Apple to refund the unused time, and Apple decides on the refund. If you bought Grok, Grok Bot, or X Premium through Google Play, check your subscriptions in Google Play after you switch. If it's still set to renew, cancel it there. See [Invoices & Refunds](/x-subscription/invoices-and-refunds) for how the amount is calculated.
* Third-party models in Cursor, like Claude or GPT, aren’t included in your plan. You can still use them in Cursor, billed at API list prices from the first use and paid from your prepaid credit.
* If your Cursor account has a credit balance, you're charged in full at checkout. Your credit then refunds that charge, and any remaining credit is applied to future charges for The X Subscription.
* The switch is permanent. It can’t be undone, and Support can’t undo it for you.
